Case Study on Custom Plastic Packaging
Affordable Quality Sourcing has produced a number of custom plastic bottles and packages that are used as components in both Chinese and US Based production as well as finished goods that are packaged for retail and shipped directly to the customer’s distribution center for resale to their customers. We work with a number of manufacturers that focus on plastic packaging but one piece we are especially proud of is comprised of both a colored clear PETE container along with an anodized custom cap that features etched lines on the side
and a Debossed top with an Embossed Logo…The customer produced 5 different sizes of containers and caps in a total of 9 different colors. Affordable Quality Sourcing was able to assist in mould development (these typically cost $3,000-$5,000 for custom blow moulds), mould for the inner plastic liner of the aluminum caps($1,000-$3,000), the management of two factories to produce the products and the consolidated shipping and logistics for both the caps and the containers to the customer’s raw materials warehouse in California. The project wasn’t economically viable in the US given the extreme custom work required on the caps and the high cost of moulds so producing offshore was the only option. The project was a success and helped the customer get picked up by a number of distributors who felt that the extra perceived value of the custom packaging would be attractive to their retail customers.
